This unsettling drama stars Elizabeth Olsen (younger sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen) as Martha, an unstable woman who seeks the help of her estranged older sister (Sarah Paulson) after escaping from an abusive cult group living in a decrepit farmhouse in upstate New York.

Flashbacks From the Past Threaten Martha’s Future

Although her sister is newly married and attempting to start a family, Martha (whose identity issues cause her to go by various names) suffers from severe abandonment issues that made her the perfect target – and perhaps returning resident – of the cult group led by a charismatic man (John Hawkes). As Martha uncomfortably tries to adjust to life among the wealthy and civilized at her sister’s vacation home in Connecticut, she endures disturbing memories of her past two years spent at the farmhouse. Determined to keep her secrets to herself, she shuts out her sister emotionally while physically seeking her assistance for material needs such food, shelter, and clothing.
